SHOPIAN: Demonstrating its commitment to swift investigation and decisive action against crime, Police in Shopian have successfully solved a theft case within 24 hours of its reporting by arresting three accused persons and recovered stolen property. Police Station Shopian registered a case FIR No. 261/2025 on the written complaint of Mohd. Yaqoob Dar resident of Pinjoora, stating therein that unknown thieves had stolen 02 cows, 01 calf and 04 sheep.

Acting promptly, a special team of Police Station Shopian was constituted. Through sustained efforts, meticulous investigation, and technical analysis, the police team traced the movement of the suspects and intercepted the accused while they were attempting to travel towards Rajouri via Mughal Road. The team successfully apprehended all three accused persons, identified as Mohd Ashraf Khatana  resident of Khawas Gund Rajouri, A/P Padshah Chowk (Driver), Arshid Ahmad Khatana resident of Kanala Khawas Rajouri, A/P Padshabagh Srinagar and Amjad Hussain Khatana resident of Kanla Khawas Rajouri, A/P Padshabagh Srinagar. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

During the course of investigation, the stolen livestock loaded in vehicle bearing registration No. JK04E-8856, were recovered and the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized. Police reiterate its unwavering resolve to act firmly against criminals and anti-social elements to ensure a safe, peaceful and crime-free environment in the district.
