SAMBA: Nasha Mukt Bharat Committee of Government Degree College Vijaypur in collaboration with NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) and J&K Police organized a group discussion on the topic ‘Awareness against Drug Abuse’ to create awareness among the college students about the impact of drugs on mental, emotional and social health. The event started with the welcome address by Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal (Lecturer, Education).
Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Verma briefed the students about the aim of organizing such an event because drug abuse may lead to social, physical, emotional, and job- related problems. A team from J&K Police, comprising of DSP Rohit Gupta, SHO Vijaypur Zaheer Manhas and PSI, Abbeer M. Khan attended the event.
DSP Rohit Gupta (SDPO Vijaypur) briefed students regarding various challenges that administration is facing in curbing the menace of drug abuse. He further shared various preventive measures that can be adopted by the civil society to keep a check on illegal and anti-social activities. He also interacted with students and also answered the questions raised by them.
Ten college students participated in the group discussion where students shared their views on the drug abuse and various preventive measures. The program received positive feedback from the students, who found it informative and engaging.
Formal Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Priyanka Ganjoo. The event was coordinated by Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat (Nodal Officer Nasha Mukht Bharat Committee) and co-coordinated by Prof Mamta Gupta, Prof. Ritu Bhagat, Prof. Poonam Kundan, Dr. Naseem Chowdhary and Prof. Meetu Sharma. The organizing committee comprised of Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal, Dr. Priyanka Ganjoo. Prof. Madhu Bala, Prof. Mazid Malik and Prof. Manisha Rani.
