GANDERBAL: The Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW) Ganderbal today spearheaded an impactful awareness camp at Khranihama Ganderbal, emphasizing the prevention of sexual harassment at workplaces. The event also showcased collaborative efforts with the Child Helpline, underscoring the unified commitment to ensuring safety and dignity for women and children in the district.
SHEW took center stage in educating participants about the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act) and the SHE-Box platform, an online grievance redressal mechanism empowering women to report workplace harassment with confidentiality and efficiency. Experts from Sankalp Hub highlighted the organization's pivotal role in bridging the gap between policy frameworks and grassroots awareness, driving systemic change for womenâs empowerment in Ganderbal.
They shared their expertise on support mechanisms available for victims of harassment and abuse. The discussions delved into the responsibilities of employers, the functioning of Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs), and the collaborative efforts required to foster safe and equitable work environments.
The speaker from the CHL Awareness Camp deliberated on the significance of Childline 1098, a 24/7 toll-free helpline dedicated to addressing issues related to child safety and protection. They explained how the helpline serves as a lifeline for children in distress, offering immediate assistance in cases of abuse, exploitation, or neglect. The speaker emphasized the importance of community awareness and vigilance in identifying and reporting such cases to ensure timely intervention.
