GANDERBAL: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) J&K in collaboration with the 115 Battalion CRPF and Chief Education Officer Ganderbal commenced an Open Volleyball Tournament under Civic Action Program for boys on Monday at Boys Higher Secondary School (BHSS) here. Eight teams representing various higher secondary schools from across the district are competing in the two-day tourney.
The tournament was formally inaugurated by the Commanding Officer of the 115 Battalion CRPF, DYSSO Ganderbal Sheikh Shafqat Iqbal, and Deputy CEO Ganderbal Miss Rumaisa Sangeen. The dignitaries lauded the collaborative effort in organizing the tournament, emphasizing the significance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills among youth.
The opening day witnessed four intense matches, kicking off with BHSS Ganderbal taking on Qamaria Higher Secondary School Ganderbal. BHSS Ganderbal displayed remarkable skills and secured a straight-set victory (2-0) in the opening match. Other thrilling matches saw BHSS Batwina, BHSS Manigam, and BHSS Kurhama emerge victorious, securing their places in the semi-finals alongside the host school. The tournament will continue on Tuesday with two semi-final matches, culminating in an exciting final to crown the champions.
