SRINAGAR: The sports activities organised under government’s ‘My Youth My Pride’ initiative, for July month were wrapped up with outstanding performances in various sports disciplines across multiple venues in central Kashmir.
In Srinagar, the Indoor Sports Complex hosted Taekwondo events, while the Polo Ground's Hockey Astro Turf witnessed hockey competitions, with a total of 300 players participating. The badminton competition concluded at SKISC, and the basketball finals took place at the Gindun Sports Complex in Rajbagh.
In Budgam, sports activities included handball, Pencak Silat, and cycling at Playfield Magam, the Indoor Sports Hall, and Narbal Gulmarg road, respectively. These events attracted hundreds of athletes from various schools and Khelo India Centers.
In Ganderbal, the finals for judo, Thang Ta, and volleyball were held, with winners being celebrated by a large number of spectators. This concludes a successful month of special summer activities in central Kashmir.
The selection trials for the special summer Kabaddi coaching camp Phase-2 were also completed at SKISC Srinagar, with 27 players selected. The trials were conducted by the J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council.
Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull, expressed her commitment to making sports accessible to every child in J&K. She encouraged the youth to take advantage of the sports infrastructure and training opportunities provided by qualified JKSC coaches.
