BUDGAM/HANDWARA: In a significant initiative to educate the youth and the general public about recently amended criminal laws, Police organized awareness programmes on new Criminal Laws in Budgam and Handwara.
Police in Budgam under the supervision of SSP Budgam Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS organized awareness programme on New Criminal laws at Police Station Khansahib. The event was chaired by DySP(P) Smt Simriti Sharma-JKPS along with SHO PS Khansahib, attended by civil society members and other citizens of Khasahib area.
Similarly in Handwara, Police organized awareness programme at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Qalamabad. The event was chaired by Addl. SP Handwara Shri Zaffar Iqbal Nawaz along with SHO PS Qalamabad.
During the session, police officers highlighted key aspects of the revised criminal laws and emphasized their role in fostering a safer society. They underscored the importance of implementing and adhering to these legal norms to maintain law and order effectively. The participants also got familiarized that new criminal laws are victim centric and aim to ensure speedy Justice for victims and swift punishment for offenders. They also shed light on the provision for registering Zero FIRs and e-FIRs. The new laws also incorporate modern investigation techniques, utilizing technology to enhance the justice system.
Participants including students actively engaged in discussions, asking questions, and seeking clarifications on the new legal provisions. Police remains committed to spreading awareness and ensuring that citizens are well-informed about these legal reforms. These initiatives aimed to inform citizens about the transition from colonial-era laws to a more democratic legal framework, emphasizing justice, transparency, and accountability.
