KATRA: The School of Civil Engineering at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) took a significant step in empowering students with practical skills by organizing a successful survey camp from 22nd -26th July, 24. This camp offered third and fourth-year Civil Engineering students the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios, enhancing their practical skills and knowledge.
The survey camp was meticulously planned with Dr. Bharat Bhushan Jindal leading as the Coordinator, Dr. Vaibhav Sapkal as the Faculty-in-Charge, and Mr. Gautam Narula as the Co-coordinator. The camp provided practical training in fly leveling, traversing the Administrative Block, measuring the area of the SMVDU stadium, and contouring the enchanting green ground with cutting-edge equipment like Auto Level and Total Station.
This hands-on experience enabled students to comprehend the complexities of surveying and its real-world applications. The camp culminated in an engaging session between the students and the Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. Balbir Singh, and the Head of SoCE, Dr. V.K. Dogra. Prof. Balbir Singh commended the students' enthusiasm and the camp's role in enhancing their skill set.
Likewise, Dr. V.K. Dogra lauded the organizing team and students for the camp's success. Dr. Jindal highly praised the unwavering dedication of Lab Assistants Mr. Luv Sharma and Mr. Shivang Gupta, who provided invaluable support to the students in all their activities. SMVDU's unwavering dedication to holistic education is unmistakable through its proactive initiatives.
