KUPWARA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, who is Chairperson of Vishwakarma District Implementation Committee, convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the progress made under PM Vishwakarma scheme.
The scheme which is aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and skill development among artisans and craftsmen has facilitated skill development training, provided access to modern tools and technologies and promoted market linkages for artisans in the district.
It was informed in the meeting that 15575 applications under the scheme were received under Gram Panchayat and ULB Zone out of which 10292 applications were recommended under Stage 1. Under Stage 2,4063 applications were recommended out of which 3787 applications were approved under Stage 3.
On the occasion, the DC impressed upon the officers to clear all pendencies to ensure coverage of the targeted beneficiaries under the PM Vishwakarma scheme. It was also informed in the meeting that 3405 candidates were enrolled for Pre-Skilling out of which basic skilling of 1625 candidates have been completed under PM Vishwakarma scheme by different institutes including Government ITIs, Polytechnic College and Private Institutions.
The DC also reviewed the performance of Panchayat Development Index (PDI) during which the meeting discussed in detail the indicators under Panchayat Development Index, which evaluates the performance of Panchayats based on various development parameters. ACD Kupwara, ACP, LDM, BDOs, Superintendent ITI Kupwara, CSC Manager and other concerned were present in the meeting.
