JAMMU: The Director Colleges, J&K Higher Education Department, Dr. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, today convened a meeting with the Principals of Government Degree Colleges of Jammu Division at GCW, Parade Ground, Jammu.
The meeting was held to address the issues faced by Government Degree Colleges in view of NEP implementation and the common admission mechanism of Jammu Division. Nodal Principal, Dr.S.P Sarswat welcomed Director Colleges and Principals of Jammu Division in the meeting.
Dr. Bashir stated that there are lesser challenges in a system when things are done transparently. In this regard he suggested e-office implementation in colleges as well as establishment of a directorate website with emphasis on timely information sharing.
He stressed on rationalization of staff to combat the problem of vacancies in certain colleges, introduction of student leave management and large scale Independence Day celebrations across colleges in a more structured manner. He favoured proper implementation of the Academic Calendar to prevent delay in examination as well as promotion of My Bharat Portal to better connect students with each other to foster national integration.
In a similar vein, Dr. Sarswat suggested holding National Integration Camps in the state. The College Principals present in the meeting raised the problems and issues faced by their respective institutions in front of the Director some of which, especially regarding vacancies, were resolved on spot. Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo, Principal of the host college ended the meeting with a formal vote of thanks.
