BUDGAM: Director, Panchayati Raj, J&K, Sham Lal today conducted an inspection of the Kanihama Panchayat Learning Centre (PLC) in Budgam district to review its functioning as well as assess various facilities available there. During the inspection, the Director called upon the officials to equip the centre with all necessary facilities to transform it into a comprehensive one-stop center for the local community.
During his visit, Sham Lal underscored the importance of making Common Service Centre (CSC) functional where residents can apply for various schemes and services online. He also highlighted the need for effective communication and awareness among the public about the services offered at the PLC.
The Director said that the idea is to create a hub where people can come for various services and information. He urged officials to strategically place information boards and notices in areas with high footfall to ensure maximum visibility and accessibility for the community.
Sham Lal also addressed the need for increased participation in local governance, particularly during Gram Sabhas. The Director also suggested using the Panchayat as a medium to connect people with various government schemes and services.
He said that Panchayat should serve as a bridge between the government and the people, ensuring that all necessary information and services are readily available to the community. The Director underscored the need for consistent awareness campaigns to inform people about the dates and times of meetings, programs, and events.
He also mentioned the role of the Panchayat Secretary, stressing the significance of their duties in maintaining the functioning of the Panchayat and ensuring the implementation of resolutions and schemes.
