RAMBAN: Commissioner Secretary Housing & Urban Development department, Mandeep Kaur today held a Public Darbar at Government Higher Secondary School (Boys), Banihal here. The Public Darbar was organized to listen the grievances of  people and address their concerns.

The Commissioner Secretary heard various issues faced by the public of the district like  construction and upgradation of roads; insufficient staff in Schools and Hospitals; demand of Pahari Status to Ramban district; Parking spaces in Ramban and Banihal; delimitation of Municipal areas; foot bridge  in the habitations on Highway-44; street lights, washrooms, drinking water in Banihal Town; sanitation in Banihal Town and  Market; tourism festival in Neel and other tourists spots; Banihal Tourism Development Authority; conducting census for updation of Ration Cards and other important documents; Blood Bank for SDH Banihal; Accident Hospital on the NH-44; and other  public concerns.

The Commissioner Secretary assured the people that all these grievances have been recorded and will be taken care of with utmost seriousness and diligence. Interacting with the locals, the Commissioner Secretary said, “Transparency and accountability are our top priorities, and anyone can visit the DC Office Ramban to check the progress on their grievances. We are committed to resolving every issue with promptness and efficiency”.

She added that LG administration is keen to address public concerns at their doorsteps, ensuring that governance is accessible, transparent and accountable to the people. The Commissioner Secretary said that we are committed to taking governance to the grassroots level, making sure that no one is left behind, and everyone has access to quality services and grievance redressal mechanisms.

During the Public Darbar, the Commissioner Secretary also inspected stalls showcasing the public services and schemes offered by the government departments besides products made by local artisans and entrepreneurs. She also handed over the keys of commercial vehicles to the eligible unemployed beneficiaries of Ramban under MUMKIN scheme of Mission Youth.

On the occasion, District Development Commissioner Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, while interacting with the public said that the district administration Ramban has resolved over 4200 grievances of the public in the last eight months. “This feat demonstrates our commitment to citizen-centric governance and our resolve to address the concerns of our people with utmost priority”, he said.

The public darbar was also attended by DDC Chairperson Dr Shamshad Shan; DDC Councillors, ADDC Ramban, Director Urban Local bodies Jammu, DPO ICDS, SDM Banihal, ACD Ramban, ACP Ramban and officer district and sectoral officers.
