SRINAGAR: Police in Bandipora today organized an awareness programme on three new criminal laws at various educational institutions and public places in the District. This program aimed to enlighten the faculty, staff, and students about the latest developments in the Indian legal framework. The laws discussed included Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam.
These programmes were chaired by respective jurisdictional police officers and attended by teachers, students, civil society members and general public of different areas of the district. The initiative also aimed to educate the general public, particularly students about enactment of new criminal laws, ensuring awareness and compliance with the updated legal framework.
The chairing officers explained the nuances of the new laws, clarifying their implications and stressing the importance of adherence to legal statutes for maintaining societal order. These programmes witness active participation from students and the general public who engaged in interactive discussions, questions and sought clarifications on the legal provisions presented.
The new laws include provisions that ensure justice for the victims of crime and the society at large. Modernization of the investigation process through the use of technology has been included and the new laws also set timelines for Moreover officers also highlighted the ill effects of drugs on the society and Anti-drug posters were pasted at various public places across the district.
The participants appreciated the role of Police in organising programmes on Three New Criminal Laws. The programme achieved its objective of educating and engaging the academic community on important legal updates. The event underscored the importance of continuous legal education and the role of educational institutions in fostering informed and legally aware students /citizens.
