SHOPIAN: Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone today convened a meeting to review the implementation and progress of various social security and financial inclusion schemes in the district.
The meeting reviewed the progress achieved under varous schemes including Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and other welfare initiatives aimed at providing social and financial security to the weaker sections of society. A detailed discussions were held on beneficiary coverage, account saturation, seeding of Aadhaar with bank accounts and awareness activities being carried out at the block and panchayat levels.
ADDC directed officers from Rural Development, Social Welfare and other line departments to ensure effective coordination with banks and financial institutions for the smooth implementation of these flagship schemes. He stressed the importance of reaching out to every eligible individual, particularly those in remote and far-flung areas, to ensure they avail the benefits of these schemes.
ADDC also directed Block Development Officers (BDOs) to mobilize MGNREGA field staff and village-level functionaries to assist in awareness generation and beneficiary enrollment under PMJDY, PMSBY and PMJJBY.
While highlighting the Government’s focus on inclusive growth, ADDC said that these schemes are vital in providing a safety net to the poor and unorganized sector workers by ensuring access to banking, insurance, and pension facilities. He called for regular monitoring, timely updating of beneficiary data and ensuring transparency in the implementation of these schemes. Among others, ACD,LDM, BDOs and other concerned were present in the meeting.
