• Reviews ground situation, resolves public grievances, issues on-spot directions for restoration works

CHOWKI CHOURA: Sub-Divisional Magistrate Chowki Choura Ankush Hans today conducted an extensive day-long tour of the most severely affected area, Kasandar, Village Salyote—a remote habitation that has remained cut off from the mainland for the past two months following incessant rains, flash floods and landslides.

 The SDM was accompanied by Tehsildar, BDO, BMO, ZEO, AE PMGSY, AE Jal Shakti (PHE), Tehsil Supply Officer Chowki Choura, Officials of the Health, Veterinary and Education Department, ex-PRI members and Village Lambardar. During the visit, the SDM interacted with residents and took stock of the damage caused by the recent natural calamity, which has affected 17 families in the area. Several public grievances were heard and redressed on the spot.

The residents highlighted the urgent need for the restoration of road connectivity to the village. Responding to the demand, the SDM directed the Block Development Officer Chowki Choura and Assistant Engineer PMGSY to ensure early restoration of the road link to Kasandar on a priority basis. A medical camp was also organised by the team of the Health Department, during which health check-ups and distribution of medicines were carried out. Simultaneously, officials from the Veterinary Department examined livestock, administered vaccinations and provided necessary medicines free of cost.

Considering the forthcoming winter season, the residents requested the temporary relocation of the affected families to a safer place. Acting on the request, the SDM instructed the Education Department to make adequate rooms available in the Government High School, Salangar for temporary accommodation of the affected families.

Officers from PMGSY were further directed to expedite road restoration work, while officials from the Jal Shakti (PHE) Department were asked to ensure an uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water. To meet the ration requirements, the Tehsil Supply Officer Chowki Choura was directed to provide one month’s advance ration to all affected families before Diwali. The SDM assured the residents that every possible measure is being taken by the administration to provide timely relief and restore normalcy in Kasandar, Village Salyote.
