UDHAMPUR: A one day mega awareness camp under Poshan Abhiyaan and allied schemes of Poshan Department was inaugurated today by Mission Director Poshan, Kishori Lal Sharma here at DPO office complex Udhampur. Besides, a three day training programme of 4th batch of Udhampur Poshan Project under “Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi” was inaugurated by the MD Poshan.
The awareness camp was organized by the District Programme Officer Subash Chander Dogra. Poshan Abhiyaan seeks to address the challenges of malnutrition through a strategic shift in nutrition content and delivery by creating a convergent eco-system to develop and promote practices that nurture health, wellness and immunity
The awareness camp was attended by a large number of Anganwadi workers, Supervisors, CDPOs and locals. During the camp, informative skits and songs were presented by the Anganwadi workers which focused on eradication of the menace of malnutrition from the society. Impressive departmental stalls depicting the importance of Poshan Abhiyaan were displayed by the Anganwadi workers.
Joint Director Poshan J&K Vinod Behnal and Deputy Director Poshan Jammu Tina Mahajan also accompanied the MD Poshan during the event. Speaking on the occasion, the MD emphasized upon the role and responsibilities of the Sanginis (Anganawadi workers)in delivering the services of the Poshan Scheme at the doorsteps of the target population and also threw light upon the importance of the “Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi” training programmes being imparted in whole of the UT in consonance with the New Education Policy 2020.
JD Poshan and DD Poshan also deliberated upon the importance of the Poshan Abhiyaan and rechristened PMMVY scheme being implemented by the Department. CDPO Basantgarh also spoke on the occasion. Later, the MD Poshan also chaired a review meeting to assess implementation and progress of various schemes in the district. He expressed satisfaction over the performance of the District.
The meeting was attended by all the CDPOs and Supervisors of the District in which various directions were issued by the MD Poshan for improvement of various parameters in Poshan tracker, a mobile-based application for dynamic identification of stunting, wasting and under-weight prevalence among children and last-mile tracking of nutrition service delivery. Continuing the journey of creating the finest ecosystem for the eradication of malnutrition in India, the program is being invested with data quality indicators and compatibility for scalability.
