KATRA: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) hosted a day-long Open Day event, designed to offer school students a chance to visit the campus and experience its operations firsthand.
A total of 480 students from Heritage School Jammu, DPS Nagbani, DPS Jammu, Kendriya Vidyalaya (Nagrota, Chanani, Udhampur, Hiranagar, Jyotipuram), KC International, and Govt. High School Pouni, accompanied by their faculty members, participated eagerly in the event.
The students were provided with an in-depth overview of the academic programs and campus facilities. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Pragati Kumar, addressed the students and faculty, emphasizing the importance of such events in helping students make informed decisions about their future careers.
He also announced that more editions of the Open Day would be organized soon.Throughout the event, the students visited various departments, including Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, and Biotechnology.
They interacted with faculty and students, learned about ongoing research in the labs, and got detailed insights into the academic programs offered by each school. Additionally, they toured key facilities on campus, including the Central Mess, Library, Hostels, and the Technology Business Incubation Centre (TBIC).NSS volunteers, led by NSS Coordinator Dr. Rajeev Kumar, guided the students on a tour of the hostels, library, and other campus facilities, providing them with a comprehensive view of university life.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq, Dr. Ankush Raina, and Dr. V.K. Dogra. The day concluded with a vote of thanks from Ar. Abhiney Gupta, Head of the School of Architecture and event coordinator, along with Dr.Yatheshth Anand, Head of the School of Mechanical Engineering.
