• ADC Kishtwar launches "Plastic Lao, Thela Le Jao" campaign

KISHTWAR: Under the ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada, district administration Kishtwar has been bustling with activities aimed at promoting cleanliness and environmental awareness. A series of comprehensive Swachh Bharat awareness and cleanliness campaigns were conducted across various locations, particularly focusing on Sub Division Chatroo and the popular tourist destination of Sinthan.

The day’s events were coordinated under the leadership of ADC Kishtwar, Pawan Kotwal, along with the dedicated support of SDM Chatroo, Nayeem ur Rehman, ACD Kishtwar, Phulail Singh, BDO Inderwal, Hitesh Loona, AO DC Office Satinder Singh and officials from NHIDCL and the Municipal Council (MC) Kishtwar. Their combined efforts, along with the involvement of school students, department staff, and community members, ensured the successful execution of these critical activities.

The day began with an extensive cleanliness drive and awareness campaign at High School Damber. Teachers, students, and local community members actively participated, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clean environment. Following the activities at HS Damber, the team moved to Aloo Farm in Inderwal, where they launched the “Plastic Lao Thela Le Jao” campaign. This initiative, led by NHIDCL authorities, was met with enthusiastic participation from the locals. The campaign encouraged residents to exchange plastic waste for biodegradable cotton bags, thereby reinforcing the message of reducing plastic usage in daily life.

This not only empowered the “No Plastic” campaign in the area but also highlighted the importance of community participation in achieving a plastic-free environment. The final phase of the day’s activities took place at the scenic tourist destination of Sinthan. Here, the district administration, along with sanitation workers from MC Kishtwar, conducted a thorough cleanliness drive. The officers emphasized the significance of maintaining a plastic-free environment, particularly in tourist destinations, to preserve their natural beauty and ecological balance.

Simultaneously, a cleanliness and awareness campaign was conducted at the Pakal Dul Hydroelectric Power Project (HEP) site. The project authorities and laborers actively participated, acknowledging the importance of maintaining a clean work environment.

As per the schedule of Swachhta Pakhwada, designated activities were also carried out in various government educational institutions across the district. These activities aimed at instilling a sense of environmental responsibility among students and educating them on the importance of cleanliness.
