SRINAGAR: Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police have arrested 06 persons and seized a boat in Pampore area of Awantipora.
Police party of Police Station Pampore seized one boat being used for illegal extraction and transportation of sand from river Jhelum at Pampore and arrested six persons involved in the commission of crime. They have been identified as Ishfaq Hussain Ganie son of Ali Mohammad, Rizwan Ali Ganie son of Mohammad Ibraheem, Rouf Hussain Matto son of Gh Mohammad, Tahir Hussain Ganie son of Altaf Hussain, Aijaz Hussain Khan son of Gazanfar Ali and Waheed Hussain son of Mohd Akbar Kutho, all residents of Shalina Budgam.
Accordingly, case vide FIR No. 13/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pampore and further investigation has been initiated. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding illegal mineral-related activities in their neighbourhood.
