JAMMU: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu had the privilege of hosting Kuwarani Dr. Ritu Singh Ji, Founding Chairperson of FICCI FLO Jammu Kashmir Ladakh, Director of Hari Niwas Hotel and Resorts, Pro Vice Chairperson of DPS Jammu, and a renowned entrepreneur, a dynamic leader, philosopher, philanthropist, socialist, and social reformer, at its state-of-the-art campus in Jagti on 12th July 2024.
During the visit, Kuwarani Dr. Ritu Singh Ji also presented a book to Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, titled “Examined Life” written by Dr. Karan Singh Maharaj, Indian politician and philosopher and Maharaja of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, on this momentous occasion.
Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, warmly welcomed Kuwarani Dr. Ritu Singh Ji to the institute. During her visit, she was given an extensive tour of the campus, including the Nalanda Library and various classrooms. Kuwarani Dr. Ritu Singh Ji also engaged with the student fraternity, sharing her insights and experiences.
Kuwarani Dr. Ritu Singh Ji expressed her admiration for the campus, noting that the infrastructure at IIM Jammu is truly impressive. She highlighted the hi-tech digital library, Nalanda, as a beacon of modern educational resources and commended Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu and his team for developing such a beautiful and state-of-the-art campus in the vicinity of Jammu.

JAMMU: To bolster the security apparatus, and to focus on enhancing coordination & synergy among the Border Security Force (BSF), Punjab Police, and Jammu and Kashmir Police a high-level coordination conference was held at the Conference Hall of DPL Kathua today. The primary agenda of the meeting was to conduct a comprehensive review of the current security situation and to devise robust strategies to counter the challenges.
The meeting was attended by Special DG of BSF Western Command, Shri Y.B. Khurania, DGP J&K, Shri R.R Swain, DGP Punjab, Shri Gaurav Yadav, Spl DG, IS, Shri R.N Dhoke, Spl DGP (Law and Order), Punjab, Shri Arpit Shukla, ADGP (Law and Order), J&K, Shri Vijay Kumar, ADGP Jammu Zone Shri Anand Jain, IGsP BSF Shri A.K Digambar, Shri D.K Boora,DIsG Dr Sunil Gupta, JSK Range, J&K Police, Sh.S.S. Maan, DIG Samba Kathua Range,BSF, Sh. Rakesh Kaushal, DIG Border Range Punjab and other officers.
The menace of border smuggling, narcotics, arms, and contraband was deliberated upon.The officials reviewed recent seizures and intelligence inputs, identifying key smuggling routes and methods. The meeting highlighted the importance of strengthening checkpoints, increasing frisking operations, and enhancing the capabilities of canine units.
The officers emphasized the importance of coordinated patrolling and the deployment of advanced technology, including drones and night-vision devices to monitor and secure the border effectively. The officers also stressed the need for inter-agency cooperation and real-time information sharing to dismantle the narcotics networks.
Following the presentation by DIG JSK Range, IG BSF Jammu, DIG BSF Gurdaspur, and SSP Pathankot, in-depth discussions were conducted addressing key security concerns. In light of the discussions, several strategic initiatives were proposed to augment the security framework along the border. To foster better coordination and synergy between the BSF and Police forces of Punjab and J&K, the meeting recommended regular joint training sessions and drills.
SHOPIAN: Commissioner Secretary, Information and Technology, Prerna Puri, today convened an extensive public outreach programme at Shopian to assess and address the public issues and concerns besides reviewing the status of ongoing development works in the district. The public darbar, being held under J&K government’s ambitious initiative to redress public grievances and demands, witnessed overwhelming participation of locals and various public representatives.
The delegations comprising members from District Development Council, fruit growers, traders, industrial bodies, cold chain association, social activists, youth besides locals who projected various welfare and developmental issues and flagged issues and grievances pertaining to different departments.
They raised various issues requiring attention and redressal by the authorities, spanning across different departments. The major developmental issues inter alia included flood protection works along Fruit Mandi, Aglar, provision of insurance cover for apple, push to post harvesting practices, augmentation of sports and fire services infrastructure, better intra- town transport services, car parking in Shopian town, revision of Master Plan for Shopian town, water supply issues, electricity streamlining, filling up of vacant posts in health centres of the district, irrigation facilities and restoration and maintenance of canals, amenities along Mughal Road, tourist promotional events, dedicated Library, establishment of Drug Rehabilitation centre and other issues.
The Commissioner Secretary directed the concerned departments to ensure vigorous follow up on all the public grievances and issues highlighted during the public darbar. Prerna Puri reiterated the government’s commitment towards enhancing public services and ensuring an effective and responsive administration for the people of the UT. She underscored the importance of grievance redressal programs in institutionalizing an effective output mechanism.
"The huge network of online service delivery system in J&K is a phenomenal initiative in furthering good governance goals for the larger public ease and convenience", maintained the Commissioner Secretary. She also appreciated the district administration in curbing drug menace in the district which has been recognized even at the National level.
Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb, deliberated on various issues highlighted in the previous public outreach camps, which were redressed promptly, while apprising of other measures and interventions being taken up by the district administration for public welfare and development. DDC members, ADDC, ADC, ACR, SDM, ACP, other district officers, public representatives and locals participated in the programme.
BASOHLI: Development in Jammu & Kashmir has touched new heights under the Bharatiya Janata Party led government at the centre, stated Ravinder Raina, President J&K BJP, while he was addressing a workers’ convention at Basohli. Dr. Nirmal Singh, former Dy Chief Minister & former BJP President along with other senior leaders also addressed the convention.
Ravinder Raina, while addressing the convention, appreciated the party workers for their active role in taking the welfare schemes initiated by the Modi government to the ground level. He said that the BJP is proud of its cadre, which works without any selfishness and always remains ahead of others in serving the society and the nation.
He said that the Modi government has ensued the all-round development in Jammu &Y Kashmir along with whole of the nation and it is the proud moment for every BJP worker that the people have voted for the Modi government third time In a row which is first of its type in the history of nation since independence in the presence of fully aware people and added that it testifies in itself the acceptance of BJP’s policies, ideology and working pattern in the nation.
Dr. Nirmal Singh, in his address, spoke at length about the all round development in the whole region. He credited the BJP’s public representatives for their active role to initiate the stalled development works as well as to bring and start the new projects to make the people's lives easier.
JAMMU: The Community Radio Station of the University of Jammu, 91.2 FM Dhwani JU, began the second round of two-week Summer Internship Program for the students of GGM Science College, Cluster University of Jammu, GCW Bhagwati Nagar, GDC Nagrota and Dogra Degree College, Bari Brahamana, Jammu. This internship program is thoughtfully designed to provide students with the best possible start in their careers.
A successful Interactive Session with renowned Radio Jockey, Sarang, from 91.9 RED FM, marked the beginning of the Internship program. The session was designed to provide the interns a rare opportunity to gain firsthand insights from an industry expert, learn about the nuances of live broadcasting, and understand the art of engaging with a diverse audience.
RJ Sarang, a luminous Alumnus of the University of Jammu shared his extensive experience in the field, covering topics such as content creation, audience interaction, and the technical aspects of radio broadcasting. The Participants engaged in practical exercises designed to simulate real-world broadcasting scenarios, enhancing their understanding and skills. This was followed by a practical session by Prof. Monika Chadha, Convenor, 91.2 FM Dhwani JU, who introduced the Interns to the concept and working of the Community Radio Station.
The other Resource Persons for the day included Mr Sumeet Sharma, Drama Instructor, DSW, University of Jammu, Mr Tushar Bhardwaj, Programming Assistant 91.2 FM Dhwani JU and Mr. Krishan, a senior theatre trainer from Chandigarh.
