JAMMU: Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, visited the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) Vijaypur in Jammu today. Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Science & Technology; Ministry of Earth Sciences; Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions; Department of Atomic Energy and Space, Shri Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha and Member of Institute Body, AIIMS Jammu; Shri Gulam Ali Khatana, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Nadda said that “under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, not just health, but every sector has experienced immense growth”. He added that “Shri Narendra Modi has brought a new wave of comprehensive development into Jammu & Kashmir, advancing the state towards prosperity and growth”.
The Union Health Minister emphasized that it is important to foster collaborative synergy among various branches of medical sciences. He added that both allopathy and Ayurveda possess distinct significance and strengths, complementing each other to enhance healthcare outcomes.
Addressing the Faculty, Residents, Staff and Students of AIIMS Jammu, Shri Nadda encouraged the faculty to persist in their pursuit of knowledge, service and research. The Minister commended their dedication and hard work, emphasizing the importance of continued excellence and innovation in healthcare and education.
He remarked, “AIIMS Jammu is an institution that embodies the aspirations and dreams of countless individuals. It’s a beacon of hope not only for the people of J&K, but also for that of Leh, and other neighboring states like Punjab and Himachal Pradesh”. He assured all the possible help and support to the institution in ensuring better healthcare access for millions. He emphasized that skill & talent should never be compromised and exalted the faculty to work tirelessly to develop an “AIIMS culture which is an amalgam of selflessness, dedication, competency, integrity, innovation and trust.
The Union Minister along with other dignitaries visited various facilities including the Digital Library with e-books, e-journals apart from hard copies of books & professional journals. The distinguished features showcased at the library included carrels for research work, state-of-the-art digital dashboard, automated book issue and deposit device and the RFID security gate at the entrance of the Digital Library.
The Union Health Minister also visited the modern Lecture Theatres for student with state-of-the-art Smart Boards, special features of which were demonstrated to the dignitaries. He expressed his happiness that AIIMS Jammu is incorporating technology advancements in pedagogy at AIIMS Jammu.
The Minister also inspected the Outpatient Department (OPD), including the registration counters and “Indoor Navigation System” for patients. During the visit, the Union Health Minister observed the world-class facilities and services available to the people of Jammu & Kashmir. He said that with its skilled doctors and aspiring medical professionals, AIIMS Vijaypur is set to enhance healthcare facilities in the region.
SRINAGAR: Ambassador of the Czech Republic to India, Her Excellency, Dr. Eliska Zigova today held a productive interaction with prominent trade and industry leaders of Jammu and Kashmir at Government Arts Emporium here. The Ambassador was accompanied by third Secretary, Adam Padhola and Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic at Chandigarh, Guneet Chaudhary.
Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department J&K, Vikramjit Singh; MD JKTPO, General Manager JKTPO and other senior officers were also present during the interaction.
The interaction cum business meeting organized by JKTPO, brought together key stakeholders including industrial associations, trade bodies, exporters, entrepreneurs and hoteliers from J&K to explore opportunities and develop economic cooperation. This meeting provided a platform for constructive discussions on enhancing trade relations between the Czech Republic and the region, identifying potential sectors for investment, and promoting tourism exchanges.
Prominent business leaders and young entrepreneurs like President Hotelier’s Club, Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya; President Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Javed Ahmad Tenga; President FCIK, Shahid Kamli; President Textile Park, Zakura, Afaq Qadri; Farooq Amin, Faiz Bakshi, Mujtaba Qadri, Sajad Shah, Yaseen Tuman, Izhan Javed, Shahla Ali, Ruhaab Meer and others entrepreneurs were present during the interaction and expressed their views on different aspects of business environment.
Speaking about the visit, Ambassador Dr. Eliska Zigova expressed her enthusiasm about the economic potential, scenic splendour and cultural richness of Kashmir. She emphasized the importance of such interactions in deepening mutual understanding and forging partnerships that benefit both regions. She elaborated on the strengths of Czech Republic in the field of Automobiles, Machinery, Tourism, Food Technology, Horticulture, etc, and expressed interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation in these areas.
Speaking on the occasion, Vikramjit Singh highlighted about the opportunities available in the fields of Health spas, technology, tourism, handicrafts and food processing sectors and explained various aspects of NCSS package, J&K FDI Policy and J&K Industrial Policy and other industry friendly measures initiated by J&K Government to develop industrial landscape in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the interaction, Khalid Jahangir extended a warm welcome to the Ambassador and delegation on behalf of Government of Jammu and Kashmir. He underlined the commitment of Government of Jammu and Kashmir to foster meaningful collaborations and promote Jammu and Kashmir as an investment and trade destination.
In addition to the business meeting, JKTPO also curated an exhibition, featuring unique products of J&K. This exhibition served as a showcase of the rich cultural diversity and craftsmanship of the region, offering the Ambassador and her delegation insights into the local artisanal traditions and potential export products.
Pertinently, Ambassador Eliska is currently on a three-day visit to Kashmir to strengthen bilateral ties and explore opportunities for economic collaboration. As part of her visit today, JKTPO organized series of events aimed at fostering business relationships and showcasing the cultural heritage of the region. The visit of the Ambassador of Czech Republic to Kashmir marks a significant step towards strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new avenues for cooperation in various sectors.
SRINAGAR: In order to restore, preserve and develop various Religious Places and Heritage Sites/assets in the District, several projects are being executed by the District Administration Srinagar.
Under “Scheme for Revival, Restoration, Preservation and Maintenance of Architecture and Heritage in Jammu and Kashmir number of identified Religious Places/Heritage Sites approval has been accorded for the financial year 3023-24 to carry out restoration, revival, preservation and maintenance of Architecture and Heritage of Religious Places/Heritage Sites of Srinagar District including KhanKhahi Moula of Mir Syed Ali Hamdani(RA), Shiv Temple at Vicharnag, Khankhahi Naqashband Sahib(RA), Bhairav Mandir Chattabal, Zeashta Devi at Zeathyar, Aali Masjid at Eidgah, Shrine of Baba Ghulam-ud-din (RA) at Braine Nishat, Narayan Mutt Temple in Tulsibagh, Shiv Temple Danapora, Basant Bagh, Pond and Masjid at Maqdoom Mandal, and Restoration of Historical Kalai of Naagar Nagar Nowhatta.
The Restoration works on the Temple at Ganpatyar, Restoration & Conservation of Shrine of Syed Mohammad Hussain Mazandarani, Khankahi Sokhta, Reconstruction of Mangleshwar Bhairav Asthapan at Brari Nambal, Babadam, and Development & Restoration of Ram Mandir at Safakadal has been completed.
Speaking about the projects taken up in under the “Scheme for Revival, Restoration, Preservation and Maintenance of Architecture and Heritage in Jammu and Kashmir, the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat said that the aim of the projects is to revive and preserve the Religious Places/Heritage Sites that have historical, cultural, religious significance, besides reflect the representation of every community and every section of our cultural society.
He said all concerned executing agencies are working in a coordinated approach to ensure time bound completion of all works taken up under the scheme with conservation efforts to retain the aesthetic, historic and social values of our great civilizational and cultural legacy.
The DC further maintained that the line Departments have been instructed to ensure transparency and effective onsite monitoring of the projects, besides following value-based methodologies and integrated approach to complete the conservation projects efficiently.
KISHTWAR: Few days back the Kishtwar to Paddar road was severely disrupted due to a massive landslide at Nagseni, halting vehicular movement and impacting essential supplies to the Paddar Sub Division. The alternate road from the Himachal side remained open for essential supplies, but the same were disrupted due to the washing away of Singhrah Bridge-GREF in flash flood in the Sohal area.
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav, today trekked to the landslide spot at Nagseni to reach the Paddar side, overseeing the repair of the Singhrah Bridge by GREF Authorities, which was completed within 3 hours in presence of SDM Paddar Amit Kumar, Tehsildar Atholi, DDC Paddar Arpan Singh Rana, and other officials. The road connectivity from Himachal to the Paddar area has now been restored and the Essential supplies loaded in light vehicles have been resumed.
About Kishtwar-Paddar Road, DC Dr. Devansh Yadav informed that additional excavators have been mobilized from hydroelectric projects to clear the road at Nagseni on a war footing. The road restoration work continuing day and night is expected to take 2-3 days with the efforts of personnel from GREF and hydroelectric power projects under the supervision of district administration.
“The supply Chain of essential items for the public will not be affected, as it is ensured from the Himachal side,” he added. Vehicular movement will remain affected until the road is fully restored. The general public is requested to have patience till the completion of the restoration work.
DODA: The Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW) Doda, under the guidance of District Social Welfare Officer, has been making significant strides towards safeguarding the women's rights and their empowerment through a series of impactful initiatives. Over the past few weeks, the organization has intensified its efforts, focusing on key issues such as gender equality, legal awareness, and health rights for making the society more sensitive about gender based issues.
In a noteworthy achievement, Sankalp HEW has successfully completed the third week of its ambitious 100-day event aimed at sensitizing Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) about the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act. This initiative is part of a larger campaign to eradicate sex-selective abortions and promote gender equality and inculcating a sense ka responsibility among the masses about their role in framing the society by providing a better upbringing of children inculcating in the better moral and ethical values that will help them to be a person of great virtue.
Collaborative Awareness Programs
In addition to the awareness sessions for ASHA workers, Sankalp HEW has been collaborating with the health department to resolve the issues faced by ASHAs while interacting with people in the field.
During the campaign, Gender Specialist Humerah Balwan briefed field workers about the PCPnDt Act, its various sections and penalty provisions. She also imparted training to them regarding the ways of counselling to people who approach for sex determination, update them about legal consequences, counsel them for giving up the idea and monitor their actions to prevent them from contacting any other evil means to fulfill their motive.
The other main focus of the event was sessions on the provisions of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These programs have provided stakeholders an effective platform for in-depth discussions about BNS, Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam breaking the centuries old shackles of colonial legacy. New laws will enhance the efficiency and transparency of our justice system .Such collaborations are pivotal in fostering a robust legal framework and health issues that protects and empowers women.

Recognizing the importance of equipping its team with the necessary skills and knowledge, Sankalp HEW recently conducted an intensive training session. Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW) is dedicated to promoting women's rights and gender equality through advocacy, education, and community engagement. Sankalp HEW previously known as Mahila Shakti Kendra works tirelessly to address issues such as gender-based violence, health rights, and legal awareness, striving to create a more just and equitable society for all, especially for women.
Awareness regarding emergency numbers was also provided to the audience like women helpline 181,child helpline number 1098, ambulance 108 and for mental health 14416.Those who are suffering from anxiety or stress or any other mental issues can contact for counseling through Tele Manas- a UT JK government’s initiative for helping the people in need of counselling.
