JAMMU: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, under the leadership of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, organized an enriching Immersion Program for BBA students from the Institute of Technology and Science (I.T.S), Ghaziabad. Held at the Dharma Classroom, Vedanta MDP Centre from April 24 to April 28, 2025, the program aimed to foster collaborative learning and provide valuable industry exposure to aspiring management professionals.
The Immersion Program featured the participation of 30 enthusiastic BBA students and two faculty members from I.T.S Ghaziabad. The students received a warm welcome and were taken on an engaging campus tour, beginning at the iconic Clock Tower and covering key facilities including the IIM Jammu Reception Area, Mandapam Auditorium, Smart Classrooms, and the state-of-the-art Nalanda Library.
The Inaugural Ceremony commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the pursuit of wisdom. The event was graced by Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu; Dr. Sanjeev Pathak, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy; and Dr. Vinod Durge, Chairperson, Alumni Affairs. Representing I.T.S Ghaziabad were Prof. Vaijayanti Anand and Prof. Shivoham, who extended their support and encouragement to the participating students.
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu, welcomed the students and emphasized the importance of active participation and co-creation in the learning process. He encouraged the students to come prepared, be engaged, and leverage this opportunity to the fullest. Highlighting that learning at IIM system goes beyond classroom sessions, he underscored the value of peer learning and out-of-classroom experiences. He thanked I.T.S Ghaziabad for collaborating in this initiative and encouraged students to explore the IIM Jammu campus, reflect on key takeaways, and fully immerse themselves in its vibrant academic ecosystem. “This five-day journey is not just about learning—it’s about discovery, challenge, and growth,” he remarked.
Dr. Sanjeev Pathak, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu, welcomed the participants and shared a key learning from a past industry immersion — the importance of discovering something new each day. He emphasized that the five-day BBA program is designed to align with students’ aspirations and equip them to become future leaders and job creators.Highlighting the role of Executive Education, he noted that IIM Jammu focuses on practical skills, policy awareness, and industry insights essential for today’s dynamic business landscape. He reiterated IIM Jammu’s commitment, in contributing to policymaking and nation-building through continuous learning and innovation.
Dr. Shreya Rastogi, Program Director, IIM Jammu, warmly welcomed the participants and provided an insightful overview of the program’s objectives, setting the tone for an engaging and enriching learning experience.
The five-day program featured a thoughtfully curated curriculum designed to equip students with essential managerial insights and practical knowledge. Key topics included International Business, Capital Budgeting, Critical Thinking, Digital Branding, Fundamentals of Forex Markets, Capital Structure and Leverage Analysis, Operations Management, Practical Applications of Business Strategy, Supply Chain Management, Consumer Behaviour, Digital Transformation in Business, Lean Management, Business Statistics for Managers, Monetary Policy, Digital Marketing, Team Building, and the Role of AI in Business Communications. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Garima Maurya, Program Director, IIM Jammu. The inaugural ceremony culminated with the national anthem and group photograph.

JAMMU: The Department of Library and Information Science, University of Jammu, under the headship of Prof. Sangita Gupta, Dean Planning and Development, today organized a guest lecture on “ INFLIBNET Services for Higher Education Institutions”. Prof. Umesh Rai Vice Chancellor of University of Jammu as Chief Guest and Prof. Devika P Madalli, Director INFLIBNET as Speaker graced the event with their presence.
Prof. Umesh Rai, in his presidential address, emphasized the importance of innovation and adaptability in the rapidly evolving field of library and information science. He also discussed ways to implement the services provided by INFLIBNET and allocated responsibility for its execution to the delegates present within the lecture. He also complemented the department for organizing the event and encouraged participants to leverage such opportunities for knowledge enhancement.
The guest lecture provided by Prof. Madalli's shed insightful presentation and light on emerging trends and best practices, offering valuable perspectives for students, faculty, and professionals. she introduced the participants with various services of INFLIBNET and the ways to incorporate these services for academic excellence.

AWANTIPORA: The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) successfully concluded its three-day Earth Day 2025 celebrations with a valedictory function, calling for urgent and collaborative action to address earth and environmental challenges through renewable energy adoption, innovation, and sustainability-focused solutions.
The final day featured an engaging panel discussion on the theme “Harnessing Renewable Energy, Innovation, and Collaboration for a Sustainable Future,” chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Shakil A. Romshoo. The distinguished panelists included Er. Iftikhar Kakroo, Chairman, J&K Water Resources Regulatory Authority; Prof. P.K. Joshi, School of Environmental Sciences, JNU, Prof. A. H. Moon, Dean Academic Affairs, IUST, Ms. Shahala Ali Sheikh, and Dr. Touseef Bhat, both noted environmental activists from civil society. The panelists highlighted the urgent need to transition to renewable energy sources, promote innovation, and strengthen public participation in environmental conservation. The discussion also brought attention to local environmental challenges in Jammu & Kashmir, emphasizing the region’s vulnerability to climate change and resource degradation.
The valedictory function was graced by Prof. Ravindernath, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Kashmir, as the Chief Guest, who emphasized the role of sustainability and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in addressing Earth’s pressing issues.
In his presidential address, Prof. Romshoo highlighted IUST’s commitment to fostering student-led innovations and research-driven solutions for environmental resilience. He also outlined the university’s initiatives in creating knowledge and tools to combat the challenges faced by the Earth system. Er. Iftikhar Kakroo, Guest of Honour, stressed the importance of innovation in meeting energy demands and reducing the carbon footprint of our society. Dean Academic Affairs Prof. A.H. Moon underscored the power of youth and student engagement in environmental stewardship, while Dr. Jasia Bashir, Organizing Secretary, presented a summary of the three-day Earth Day activities.
The function was also attended by the Dean of the School of Architecture, Planning and Geomatics, who welcomed the participants, and Dr. Tariq Abdullah, Head of the Department of Geomatics, who delivered the vote of thanks. Earlier in the day, a painting competition for school students was held, with around 50 enthusiastic participants from across the Kashmir Valley.
The competition offered a platform for young minds from various schools and physically challenged students from Zeba Appa School, Pampore to express their creative reflections on environmental degradation and climate action through art. Prizes were awarded to winners of various events, including poster-making and debate competitions, for showcasing innovation, awareness, and commitment to the planet. The Earth Day 2025 events at IUST highlighted the university’s proactive role in promoting environmental consciousness, youth engagement, and interdisciplinary approaches to building a sustainable future for Jammu & Kashmir and beyond.
SRINAGAR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu & Kashmir organized a Shradhanjali Sabha at Church Lane, Srinagar, to pay tribute to the 26 innocent civilians who were brutally killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22nd April 2025. Sat Sharma, President, J&K BJP, Sunil Sharma, Leader of Opposition, Ashok Koul, General Secretary (organization), J&K BJP, Gh. Ali Khatana, MP (Rajya Sabha), Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, General Secretary, J&K BJP & MLA, Sunil Sethi, Chief Spokesperson, J&K BJP and other senior leaders of BJP paid floral tributes on the occasion.
Offering floral tributes to the martyrs, BJP leaders observed a two-minute silence in memory of the innocent lives lost. The attack, which targeted peaceful visitors, has drawn strong condemnation from all corners and has been described as an attack on the soul of Kashmir.
While paying the tributes, Sat Sharma stated, “These tourists came here in trust and peace, and their murder is a crime against humanity. We grieve with their families and promise that their sacrifice will not be forgotten.” Ashok Koul added, “Terrorists want to instill fear and divide us, but Kashmiris will never allow such darkness to overpower the spirit of our land. We stand united in mourning and in resolve.”
Sunil Sharma strongly condemning the heinous act said, “Brutality has crossed all limits of humanity. Their actions are a direct attack on the values we hold dear as a society”. All speakers emphasized the need for national unity, stronger security measures, and a firm stance against terrorism to ensure such heinous crimes are never repeated. The BJP leadership expressed deep solidarity with the victims’ families and called upon society to collectively work toward peace and justice. The Sabha concluded with collective prayers for the departed souls and reaffirmation of the BJP’s commitment to a terror-free, peaceful Jammu & Kashmir.
AWANTIPORA: The Board of Directors meeting of the CIED-IUST Foundation was held today under the chairmanship of Professor Shakil A. Romshoo, Vice Chancellor of IUST. In solidarity with the tragic killing of innocent civilians in Pahalgam, the Board observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect and remembrance.
The meeting was coordinated by Prof. Parvez A Mir, CEO CIED IUST Foundation and focused on strengthening efforts to develop a robust ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship in Jammu and Kashmir. Key discussions included the launch of new training programs, the effective implementation of the DPIIT Startup India Seed Fund Scheme, the DST NIDHI i-TBI initiative, and the expansion of incubation programs aimed at supporting early-stage entrepreneurs.
During the meeting, the Board also approved the logo of the Foundation. The proposed budget for the financial year 2025–26 was presented and deliberated upon, and discussions were held regarding the publication of various reports documenting the Foundation’s activities and future plans.
Professor Romshoo appreciated the ongoing efforts of the CIED-IUST Foundation in nurturing an ecosystem of innovation in Kashmir. He also acknowledged the support extended by the Ministry of Education, the Department of Science and Technology (DST), and the Government of Jammu & Kashmir in these endeavors. Emphasizing the importance of research and innovation, he underscored the need for increased patent filings and encouraged faculty members to actively engage in innovative and entrepreneurial pursuits.
