JAMMU: "I congratulated the women of the state for enjoying equal rights after the abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35A and appeal to them on this Women's Day to spread this message to everyone in the society", said Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, BJP state Spokesperson on Kashmir Affairs in a programme today at Jammu. He was speaking on the importance of the day that is called the International Women's Day.
"For the last thousands of years, India showed to the world the path of empowerment and emancipation of women. We have been in the leading role to make the world aware that woman is the form of cosmic energy and thus we called women 'Shakti' with positivity", he said.
Chrungoo said that due to the compulsive political viccititudes over the last one thousand years in India, we lost the main track and got busy in responding to the foreign invaders' agenda. In the process, we lost our own agenda. Our cultural moorings, civilizational inspirations and traditional guidelines were muzzled by the medieval foreign and barbaric rulers.
"The colonisers and imperialists of the west attacked our education and fundamental belief system. They led us to believe falsely that India needs to be enlightened since it was governed by a wrong, outdated and retrograde way of thinking and life". Chrungoo added, "Unfortunately, our policy makers and historians, even after achievement of independence, followed the narrative of our colonisers and went astray".
He said that time has come to realise that India had a great value system which recognised women as "Nari-Shakti". They are part and parcel of our identity, growth and development as a civilization. There is immense need to retrieve the lost agenda of Bharat which developed a rich cultural ethos for the whole humanity.
"Shakti-puja, Nav-Durga and pilgrimage to 52 Shakti-sthals from Burma to Balochistan are an ample proof of our way of life that gave great credence to the women power", Chrungoo added, "Women have to tread every path of generation, growth, research and development in the modern India under the stewardship of PM Modi, and it is in this context that the current government has opened gateways for opportunities for women. Appointment of a deserving woman as the Lt. General of Indian Army is a great tribute to the current Indian womanhood.
