UDHAMPUR: Seeking enactment of appropriate legislation to protect the interests of the educated unemployed youth as well as the poor farmers and land owners in the state of J&K, submitted a memorandum to Hon’ble PM Sh. Narendra Modi through Deputy Commissioner Udhampur with signature of ten thousand people under the leadership of Sh. Balwant Singh Mankotia former MLA & state president JKNPP for protection of jobs & land rights to local people of J&K and also demanded for restoration of internet services.
Today thousands of people from different part of Udhampur gathered at mini stadium town hall with cuffed with black ribbon and play card in their hands with slogan OUR JOBS OUR RIGHT, OUR LAND OUR RIGHT, RESTORE INTERNET SERVICES. The signature campaign was started at 10 AM & concluded at 12 ‘O’ Clock in which more than ten thousand people hold their signature their after peace full protest march taken out in different part of Udhampur town and finally calumniated in front of DC’s office Udhampur.
While addressing the gathering Mr. Mankotia said that the genuine concerns and apprehensions of the people, which has become a hot topic of discussion amongst the educated and intellectual classes besides the civil society. They have bonafide apprehensions which need to be addressed in the larger interests of the general masses. These relate to land alienation issues and employment prospects & internet restoration in the state which has become vulnerable in view of abrogation of state laws in respect thereof.
Needless to mention that Maharaja Hari Singh had enacted State Subject laws in the state of J&K so as to give protection to the poor farmers of the state from being robbed of their lands by powerful land mafia from outside the state and rich non state subjects who could exploit their poverty to grab their agricultural fields. The J&K laws had further restricted the employment of outsiders in the state of J&K so that the local youth alone could be eligible for Jobs created in the state. The people of the state had been the benefactors of the said provisions which however have come to end with the passing of “J&K Re-organization Act”.
Mankotia further said that if the outsiders are allowed to apply for the already negligible Jobs in the state of J&K, the local educated youth shall be the greatest sufferers. Such an arrangement would most adversely operate against them and deprive them of the existing opportunities, whatsoever, of absorption in civil services. The concern of the unemployed youth is most genuine and they would like the Jobs of J&K to be restricted to the local youth without the same being opened to the rest of the country and also the Domicile Law therefore needs to be enacted so that the outsiders could be barred from participating in selections for govt. Jobs and from buying lands and other properties of poor people through distress sales.
Other who join the signature campaign Bopear Mandal Udhampur, Lawyers Association, Transport Union, Rehri & Farhi Union, Furit & Vegetable Association, BDC Chairman of different Blocks, Panch, Sarpanch & Municipal councillors.
