JAMMU: Congress workers celebrated the victory of the Congress coalition in Jharkhand Assembly elections ousting the BJP led Govt. out of power in the state. A number of Congress leaders and workers held celebrations at Congress HQ Shaheedi Chowk Jammu, as the results of the assembly elections were declared today. The jubilant congress workers distributed sweets and burst crackers to celebrate the results.
Prominent those present on the occasion include S/Shri Ravinder Sharma-Chief Spokesperson JKPCC, Y.V Sharma-President JK Professional Congress, Vikram Malhotra- President DCC Jammu Urban, Shashi Sharma, Neeraj Gupta, Thomas Khokhar-PCC Secretaries; Mohinder Parihar- DCC President Kishtwar, Iqbal Dar, Rajveer Singh, Rajinder Singh Pinki, Sahil Sharma, Camres David (Babloo), Parshotam Mehra, Dr. Rama Kant Khajuria, B.B. Guptta, Madan Lal Malagar, P.S. Chouhan, S. Kirtan Singh and others.
Talking to media persons on the occasion, the JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said that the people of the country have been realizing the falsehood and diversionary tactics of BJP, as a result, the BJP is loosing state after state where elections are being held after the Lok Sabha elections. The failure of the BJP to fulfill the promises and its attempts to divert the attention of people from real issues have failed to hoodwink the people any longer.
He charged BJP of misleading the people to malign the Congress party on various issues but people now see through the divisive and diversionary agenda of BJP Government and giving a reply to the ruling party through ballot. The BJP has tried to use the issues of abrogation of special status for J&K in Haryana and Maharashtra and now CAA too in Jharkhan for political gains but it suffered great setback and lost the elections.
On the issue of CAA, Mr. Sharma questioned that why their (BJP) own important allies like JDU, Akali Dal and others are not supporting them now. Before questioning Congress, the BJP should explain the reservations shown by their own allies about the CAA. He termed BJP charge against Congress as totally false and politically motivated for vested interests. The Congress always stood for respecting the foundational values of the constitution based on unity in diversity.
He said that earlier also the Congress amended the citizenship Act for nine times to grant citizenship to the deserving people but the present amendment is against the basic spirit of our Constitution for which it is facing opposition, as a vast majority of people are opposing it. Always citizenship was granted to the deserving people in the past as per law and there was no opposition to it from any quarter in the past and nor any one is opposed to grant to citizenship to the genuine one even today as per law. As per own statement of present Government in the Parliament, around 2305 persons from neighbouring countries were granted citizen during 2016 to 2019 itself.
