Iqbal as a historical figure belongs to a particular community, a nation, a region and a cardinal side. That particular community nation, region and cardinal side is blessed to have had the fortune of producing such a rare and precious sort of brains.
Hazaroon sal nargis apne banurie pe rotee hai
Badie mushkil sa hota hai chaman mai dedavar paida
Beyond the Shackles of history, Iqbal belong to everyone as an integral part of his psyche. He represents the universal inborn fondness and love to seek the way of the most beautiful, soothing and satisfying eternal Lord. He studied a lot many, with the sole unity of purpose and action in intent. He did not allow rigidity to be taken as consistency and practised change, to be constant in evolution and enlightenment.
Iqbal sought enlightenment and was bestowed with the light. He came upon to share his joy, with his fellow men and women to kindle the fire of eagerness and fondness in them. He discovered the unreliability of reason and wit and led his fellow world to higher levels of understanding. He unburdened mankind of rationality and science and put both of these faculties in his service as his servants.
Guzar ja akal sa ki yeh noor
Chiraj_e_rah hai manzil nahin
Iqbal respected every religion and thought of school. However, he never allowed any thought of school to be his master. He was never ready to sell his self for any religious or cultural practice. He respected and served all, his society and times, as a teacher, a preacher and a political leader without being carried away by any of them. He loved Islam but rejected general Muslim thought of ritualism. He praised Hindu; Sikh icons openly and fearlessly, and rejected vigorously the ways the people carved in fantasy.
Az mobahat choon khudi mohakum shivad
Paradoxically prejudices, that Iqbal taught us to tame in earliest, could not be resisted to corrupt our thought of Iqbal as well. Very often pitilessly we employ this great scholar of history to put forward our own point of interest. Instead of understanding him in whole, we are busy day and night in drawing parts from his thought to justify a particular point of view. This is, but a sheer injustice to the man and the gospel, he taught the world.
