GANDERBAL/SOURA: Due to incessant rain from past three days, enormous water-logging occurred on main and other connecting roads of the Awantibawan Soura and near by areas. All the interior and main roads have been inundated and people have to face great difficulty in reaching their destinations, A few hours rain created a flood like situation in the Soura, people putting up in many colonies across the soura were unable to come out of their houses as the lanes and bye-lanes are water logged and they don’t have a way out". locals alleged that the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) was doing nothing to drain out the water from the roads and they are facing lot of inconvenience.
The poor drainage system also gets exposed in winter when rains and light snowfall inundate the roads and lanes for weeks, lanes and by-lanes in our area are inundated after moderate rainfall and nobody from the officials are taking the issue seriously and have visited our locality so that we could come out from the problem,” Shafiq Ahmad a local person from Soura told JK MONITOR". The only question which people are asking is where are the SMC officials who drew crores to renovate drainage system of the city and where this money is spent; "said locals.
