JAMMU: As per a notification issued here today by the Government, election to the office bearers of J&K civil secretariat non-gazetted employees Union shall be held on 10th of March, 2015. The notification has been issued in supersession to the previous notification issued on the subject by the GAD department. The Elections will be held for the posts of President, Vice President, General Secretary, Secretary, Publicity Secretary, Treasurer and Executive Members. The notification further states that, the date of filling of nominations for these elections will be from 2nd of March, to 4th of March 2015, date of scrutiny of nominations 6th of March, 2015, last date for withdrawal of nominations 7th of March, 2015, date of polling 10th of March, 2015 while counting of votes/result would be held on 11th March, 2015. The timing for polling shall be from 11 am to 4 pm for Srinagar and 9:30 am to 4 pm for Jammu.
SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Rohit Kansal, along with a team of officers today conducted extensive tour of Polo View, Samandar Bagh, Mandir Bagh, Lal Chowk, Sarai Balla, Hari Singh High Street, Lal Ded Hospital, Ram Bagh, Alochi Bagh and Barzulla areas and took stock of dewatering work in these submerged areas of Srinagar city. Kansal visited all dewatering stations of the Srinagar city and reviewed pace of dewatering process on spot. He stressed upon the authorities to prepare a proposal for installation of permanent pump systems for dewatering in the city so that the submerged areas would not suffer in future. Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Chief Engineer Irrigation & Flood Control Kashmir, Chief Engineer Power Development Department, Joint Director Information Kashmir and other officers accompanied the Div Com.
BARAMULLA: A daylong workshop on Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) was held here today under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Baramulla, Talat Parvaiz, who is Nodal Officer for the scheme. The objective of the workshop, organized by J&K Institute of Management, Public Administration & Rural Development, was to raise awareness among the officers about the scheme. The workshop was attended by State Nodal Officer SAGY Yuonis Malik, Rural Development, Prof. S.N.Alam, Charge Officer, SAGY Reyaz Ahmad and district officers of various departments.
KUPWARA: The District Development Commissioner, Kupwara, K.R. Ranjan, today convened a meeting of officers of Rural Development Department (RDD) to review the physical and financial progress under MG NREGA, IAY, BRGF, Rural Sanitation etc till ending January 2015. Assistant Commissioner Development, Dr. Zahoor Ahmad, presented a detailed PowerPoint Presentation regarding the progress achieved upto January 2015.
It was informed that out of labour budget of Rs. 65.68 crore earmarked for 2014-15, Rs. 25.39 crore were released and Rs. 23 crores were utilized on execution of 7576 rural works. Besides, 4443 works were completed, 31325 job cards were issued by the Rural Development Department while 9.33 lakh mandays were generated in the district. Under Indira Awas Yojana, Rs. 1450.99 lakhs were expended on execution of low cost houses by providing Rs. 75,000 per household for the purpose.
The District Development Commissioner stressed upon the concerned agencies for improving their performance so that all the ongoing works taken up by the department would be completed in a stipulated timeframe. He, however, impressed upon the concerned to take up the traditional and natural water resources for augmentation, renewal so the locals be able to avail the drinking water and irrigation facilities from these water bodies. He sought DPRs for the purpose.
KULGAM: Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, Mr. Nissar Hussain Mir today conducted extensive tour of district Kulgam and visited some inundated villages to take review of arrangements following incessant rain from last 2 days. Officers of all line departments were accompanying the Deputy Commissioner. The Deputy Commissioner later convened a meeting of officers and enjoined upon the concerned officers to remain in state of preparedness to meet any eventuality.
SRINAGAR: As per communication of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, there is medium danger of avalanches from February 25 to February 26, 2015 in avalanche prone areas of Bandipora, Baramulla, Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama, Ganderbal and Kargil districts of Kashmir Division. However, high danger avalanche warning exists for avalanche prone areas in Kupwara district. The Deputy Commissioners of Bandipora, Baramulla, Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama, Ganderbal and Kargil districts have been asked to advise people not to venture out in avalanche prone areas. Meanwhile, the people of these areas are also advised to temporarily evacuate those locations which are under fall line of avalanches.
