  • Govt creating vibrant startup ecosystem in J&K: Director

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) conducted an “Idea Generation Workshop” for students under J&K Startup Policy here at its Bari Brahmna campus on Friday.

The workshop was conducted under the J&K Startup Policy 2024-27, aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. The workshop saw enthusiastic participation from students from SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu. The participants were guided through various exercises and activities designed to stimulate their creative thinking and idea generation skills. The workshop aimed to provide a platform for students to explore their entrepreneurial potential and develop innovative solutions to real-world problems. The event also featured talks by industry experts and startup founders, who shared their experiences and insights with the participants.

In-charge CIIBM,  Zahid Ali Dar and other staff members, including Sorab Mengi, Assistant Manager F&A and Shiwani Sharma, Assistant Faculty provided a brief overview of the J&K Startup Policy and the incubation facilities available at JKEDI. They highlighted the various benefits and opportunities offered under the policy, including funding, mentorship, and networking support.

"JKEDI is committed to promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in Jammu and Kashmir. We believe that our youth have immense potential, and we are dedicated to providing them with the necessary support and resources to succeed," said Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Director JKEDI.

The workshop was part of JKEDI's ongoing efforts to implement the J&K Startup Policy-2024-27, through which the Government of J&K aims to create a vibrant startup ecosystem in the UT. By providing a supportive environment and necessary resources, JKEDI is empowering the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to turn their ideas into successful startups.

  • Training Programme on New Criminal Laws held at District Court Kathua

KATHUA: A Three day programme on New Criminal Laws was conducted by Principal District and Sessions Judge Kathua, Ashok Kumar Shavan in pursuance to directions from the High Court vide letter no. 847/868/TETA/Sgr.

In the said training programme and also at Taluka level people were apprised of the time schedule to hold a three days training course on the new enacted criminal laws.

The feedback received from all stakeholders was positive and have been benefited by the said training programme on these new laws which will be enforced from 1st July 2024.

The Principal District and Sessions Judge Kathua has also deployed Sr. Advocates and the Judges as the resource persons to share knowledge about new laws. Principal Sessions Judge Kathua said that the New Laws would go a long way in catering to the needs of society. “These Laws will enable the Courts to dispense justice to real stakeholders in the justice delivery system,” he added.

The Advocates by and large have appreciated the High Court while assigning the job for imparting training to the stakeholders and the judges on these new criminal laws.
