SRINAGAR: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police party of Police Station Qaimoh headed by SHO Police station Qaimoh during checking at a checkpoint established at Wanpora crossing intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot after noticing police party. He was chased and apprehended tactfully. After search, 100 grams of Charas like contraband substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Sartaj Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Ramzan Bhat resident of Muqdampora, Qaimoh.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 48/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qaimoh and investigation has been initiated. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
