Now in its 15th year, LSAT—India™ is one of the leading law entrance exams used by law colleges in India for both the Under-graduate and Post-graduate programmes. With sections on Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Reading Comprehension, LSAT—India™ is a standardised test for assessing law aspirants based on advanced reading, critical thinking, and informal and deductive reasoning skills. The exam is comprised of 92 questions to be answered within 2 hours and 20 minutes. Results are reported with both a scaled score and a percentile rank.
Following a successful January 2024 registration and exam window, Professor Anand Prakash Mishra, Vice Dean of Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), and Director of Law Admissions at OP Jindal Global University (JGU) considers LSAT—India™ May 2024 mandatory for every law aspirant in the country.
"No law aspirant in India should miss LSAT—India™ test for the simple reason that it's the most nuanced and scientific aptitude test for law admissions in the country. Almost all law schools in the USA, Canada, and Australia use the LSAT score for law school admissions. We at Jindal Global Law School use the LSAT—India™ test that was created for Indian law schools in 2009," says Professor Mishra. “At our law school, LSAT—India™ test is mandatory for admission to 5-year Integrated LLB degree programs namely BComLLB, BBALLB & BALLB Honours programmes. We do not accept CLAT or any other test score."
Deepu Krishna, Head Admissions and Outreach, BITS Law School, also acknowledges the importance of the LSAT—India™ examination, stating that the “LSAT—India™ is meticulously crafted to gauge critical thinking, logical inference, and analytical prowess, eschewing rote memorisation. Its primary objective is to appraise a candidate's suitability for legal studies by immersing them in intricate scenarios demanding astute interpretation and cogent reasoning to deduce the correct solutions. This methodology serves to ascertain that prospective law students harbor the requisite acumen essential for thriving in legal academia and professional pursuits.”
To provide access and convenience to test-takers, the examination will be delivered online across India, with remote proctoring to ensure test integrity. To access the test from home, candidates must ensure that they meet all the necessary system and environment requirements before taking the test. Candidates are urged to review these frequently asked questions to get familiar with crucial information about the test, including system requirements and test preparation.
