KATHUA: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in collaboration with Government Degree College for Women, Kathua organized Multi-lingual Mushaira in the college Auditorium. Besides prominent poets of the district, some college students also presented their poetic compositions and won great applaud from the jam pack audience.
The poets through their poems highlighted current issues and problems confronting the people in present day era. They also threw light on the cultural and linguistic diversity of the area. District Development Commissioner, Kathua Ramesh Kumar was Chief Guest and Principal Women College, Kathua Dr Satinder Singh was the Guest of Honour.
Additional Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn and Prof Yash Pal Sharma, Urdu Department, Women College, Kathua were also present. Speaking on the occasion, DDC Kathua Ramesh Kumar appreciated he poets and especially the students of the college who get the opportunity to air their views through their poetic works.
He said that Kathua District is popular for its lingual and cultural diversity and the poets and writers of the area, through their literary works, play an important role in maintaining communal harmony, conservation of lingual and cultural diversity and regional identity. He asked J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages to organize more such activities in this region.
Principal of the college Dr Satinder Singh, while addressing the guests, students and poets thanked the J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages for organizing multilingual mushiara in the college. He said that Degree College for Women, Kathua will welcome more such literary events in the college. He also complimented the students who presented their poems which were highly appreciated.
While welcoming the distinguished guests and students, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn said that Academy has decided to organize literary activities including Mushairas and short-story goshties in the interiors of all Districts of Jammu region.
The poets who recited their poems included Dr. Usha Mongha, Vijay Sharma, Prof Yash Pal Sharma, Sanjay Sehgal, Sham Lal Khajuria, Shashi Pal Sharma, Ramesh Singh Ghaloch, Dalip Singh Sawan, Balak Ram Mehra, Tilak Sumbria, Khajoor Singh, Renu Radha, Dr. Guru Prasad Sharma, Saroj Bala, Kuldeep Kippi, Jatinder Khajuria, Harjinder Singh, Madan Lal Toofan, Ajay Sharma , R.S Katal, Taniya Bhatia, Jimmi Chandel, Divya Sharma, Nikita Devi, Naina Devi , Zehnvi Devi, , Dr Anita Dua and Dr Sunil Kumar.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Asstt. Editor Dogri Dictionary Dr. R. L Basotra and vote of thanks was presented by Prof Yash Pal Sharma, Urdu Department of Women College Kathua.
