JAMMU: Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture Ms Priya Sethi today inaugurated one-day Basohli Art & Painting exhibition organized by the   Indian Art Centre in collaboration with Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu. Senior BJP Leader Yudhvir Sethi and Principal GCW Gandhi Nagar Kiran Bakshi were the special guests on the occasion.

Interacting with the artists and students on the occasion, Priya Sethi hoped that artists will continue to quench the aesthetic and spiritual thirst of people by expressing realistic depiction of nature through their paintings. She said the best reward for an artist is when his or her work mesmerizes audience. The Minister hoped that the budding artists will take inspiration from the talented and versatile artists and convey their feelings through brush and the canvass.

Yudhvir Sethi showed keen interest in the paintings and said that Indian Art Centre is doing wonderful job in developing and propagating the world famous Indian miniature art. The organizer of exhibition MK Wadehra said that purpose of this exhibition was to promote Dogra art and create awareness among the children for the miniature art.

The main purpose of organizing this exhibition in the college was to popularize this art amongst the students and also to motivate them to contribute to it by using charismatic colours to portray their emotions.
