JAMMU/KATHUA/SAMBA: The Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Govt of India, Field Office Jammu/Kathua/Samba organises an impressive programme at Govt Hr. Sec. School Dori Dager in Akhnoor. The programme was attended by Sh. Narinder Raina (KAS) Tehisldar Kharabali, Mrs. Meenakshi Chada Principal of the school, Sh. Rajesh Sharma in-charge CBC Jammu/Kathua/Samba and a large number of students, community members and civil society members of the area.
The programme started with the welcome address by Sh. Rajesh Sharma In-charge CBC Kathua/Samba. In his welcome address Sh. Sharma threw light on various activities undertaken by C.B.C across India and especially in J&K, Ladakh. He focussed on the various programmes of govt of India and highlighted various schemes started by the union government. Talking about “Mission Life” he said that this initiative was introduced by India in 2021 at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the parties (COP26) in Glasgow with an aim to bring a lifestyle change for saving our environment. The aim of this initiative is to turn its vision in to observable effects for the protection of environment he added. He also mentioned the entry of India in to “Amrit Kaal” and efforts Indian citizens should make to realise the reality of emerging India.
In his address Sh. Narinder Raina (KAS) said that these kind of programmes are important for awaring the common masses. With regard to “Mission LiFE” He further added that in India we have been considering our environment as our mother. Keeping our environment clean is a big challenge as we have different types of pollutions being emitted everywhere. The only thing which can effectively curb the pollution generation is behavioural changes for protection of environment.
He highlighted various goals of Mission LIFE like Saving energy, Reducing waste, Reducing single use plastic, Saving water, Adopting healthy lifestyle, Adopting sustainable food system, Reducing E-waste etc. He praised the efforts of CBC J&K for organising such programmes and urged that more such programmes should be organised in similar far flung schools so that students can get an opportunity to discuss such critical issues.
Smt. Meenakshi Chada Principal of the school gave threadbare information about the initiatives taken by the school in reducing single use plastic. She further urged the audience to save the energy and use CFL/Tube lights in place of incandescent light bulbs. She stressed to switch off the vehicles at traffic lights and railway crossings in order to save the energy. Mr Vijay Kumar Lecturer spoke about the climate change and its impact on human life. He added that Mission LiFE is an India led global initiative to combat climate change by encouraging the individual and community to take action.
On the occasion a Plantation drive was carried out in the premises of the school in which large number of the students participated with great enthusiasm. On the occasion a pledge for protection of environment was also administered. During the programme a drawing competition was also organised on the topic of “Mission LiFE”. During the programme cultural programme was performed by the registered troupes of CBC J&K. The event culminated with felicitations and light refreshment.
