BUDGAM: A comprehensive ‘Say No to Drugs’ programme aimed at raising awareness among youth about the detrimental effects of drugs was today conducted by Cultural Unit Kashmir of Department of Information and Public Relation (DIPR) J&K at Sheikh ul Alam Memorial Degree College (SAMDC) Budgam. The programme, designed as an edutainment symposium, was organized in collaboration with the District Information Centre (DIC) Budgam, and the host college.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by the Principal of the college, Prof. Dr.Mohammad Amin Malik. Cultural Officer, Burhan Hussain delivered a detailed presentation, shedding light on the multifaceted aspects of drug abuse and its detrimental effects on individuals and society. The District Information Officer Budgam, Erim Aziz provided valuable insights into the government's proactive measures in combating drug addiction, with a particular focus on initiatives undertaken within the Budgam district.
Later, a speech competition was held on the given theme, during which students showcased their eloquence and understanding of the issue. Syeda Hina Zainab student of BA 5th semester was adjudged as First position holder in competition, while Sheeba Majeed student of BA Ist semester bagged 2nd position and Seerat Qayoom student of BA 1st semester secured 3rd position.
The symposium further engaged the audience with a thought-provoking drama and a poignant short film, both centered on the theme of drug abuse. Today's ‘Say No to Drugs’ programme is part of the series of awareness programmes held on generating awareness on Drug Abuse by the Cultural Unit Kashmir of DIPR, J&K.
