GANDERBAL: Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women, under the Department of Social Welfare, organized an awareness camp at Wakura, Ganderbal, to educate women about various welfare initiatives aimed at their empowerment. The event focused on key women-centric schemes and provisions under the POSH Act and SHE-Box initiative, conducted in collaboration with the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).
During the camp, participants were informed about schemes like the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY), which promotes savings for a girl child’s education and marriage, and the Tejaswini scheme, designed to encourage women entrepreneurs. The State Marriage Assistance scheme and Sponsorship scheme were also highlighted, offering financial aid to economically weaker families and vulnerable children, respectively.
Additionally, the Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) were discussed, focusing on maternal health and institutional deliveries. The Integrated Dairy Development scheme (IDDS) was also briefed about, which promotes sustainable dairy farming by providing subsidies for setting up dairy units, purchasing milch animals, and processing infrastructure. It aims to enhance milk production, generate self-employment, and improve rural livelihoods, especially for women.
The camp emphasized the role of these initiatives in empowering women, fostering entrepreneurship, and ensuring financial and social security. The event was well-received and showcased the commitment of the Department of Social Welfare and Sankalp Hub to uplift women and enhance their socio-economic status in the region.
