SRINAGAR: Police in Sopore have arrested 04 gamblers and seized stake money and playing cards from their possession. On a specific information regarding gambling activities at Tarzoo, a police party of Police Station Tarzoo led by SHO Police Station Tarzoo under the supervision of SDPO Sopore raided the spot. On seeing the police party gamblers tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully.
They have been identified as Shareef ud Din Sheikh son of Abdul Ahmad Sheikh, Mohammad Ismail Sheikh son of Late Abdul Gani Sheikh, Nasir Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Rashid Mir and Nisar Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Aziz Sheikh all the residents of Tarzoo. Stake money of âč6000/- & playing cards were recovered from their possession.
In this connection, a case under relevant sections of gambling Act stands registered at PS Tarzoo and investigation has been initiated. Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt with as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local Police units.
