BANDIPORA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, on Wednesday inaugurated a two-day Taekwondo Championship at Government Higher Secondary School Hajin. The championship is being organized by the Taekwondo Association of Bandipora and has brought together 230 Boys and Girls of all age groups from across the district to compete and showcase their skills.
Addressing the participants, the DC highlighted the increasing participation of students from Jammu and Kashmir in sports like Taekwondo and gymnastics. He remarked that this shift underscores the immense talent and potential of the youth in the area. Qadri emphasized the importance of harnessing the energy of young people and channeling their abilities into constructive activities such as sports.
He stated that sports not only enable youth to achieve excellence but also serve as a crucial tool in steering them away from harmful influences, including substance abuse. He reiterated the administration's commitment to supporting sports and youth-oriented initiatives, adding that such events play a vital role in promoting physical fitness, discipline, and teamwork among young individuals. Among others the inaugural ceremony of taekwondo championship was attended by Padmashree Faisal Ali Dar, SDM Sumbal, CPO, DyCEO and other concerned.
