JAMMU: A five day Inter – Regional POWERGRID Cricket tournament 2024 concluded here today with Corporate Centre (CC) . emerging as the winners of the tournament. In an exciting finals played at MA Stadium, Jammu today . CC defeated hosts Northern Region-II (NR-II) by 27 runs.In a keenly contested finals, CC Won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first CC Scored 140/9 in 20 overs. Northern Region -II could score only 113/9 in their 20 overs. Mukesh Bhakar of CC was declared as man of the Match.
Sh. Tarun Bajaj, Executive Director POWERGRID , Northern Region-II was the Chief guest in the final match.Ms. Nuzhat Gul, Secretary J&K Sports Councilalongwith Sh. Jagmohan Sharma, Chairman JPDCL were the Guests of Honour. The dignitaries gave away the trophies and mementoes to the players and officials. Sh. Tarun Bajaj in his address congratulated the winners and appreciated the sportsmanship and talent shown by cricketers of POWERGRID during the tournament.
Mukesh Bhakarof CC as declared Man of the tournament. Best Batsman trophy went to Arun Khatkar of CCRamesh Bishnoi of NR-I was declared best bowler and Ankush Kundal of NR-II as the best fielder. The tournament was scheduled from 14th December to 18th December 2024. Vote of Thanks was delivered by Vinod P Baxla, GM(HR).
Eleven teams from various Regions of POWERGRID participated in this tournament. The participating teams wereEastern Region-I(ER-I), Eastern Region-II(ER-II), Northern Region-I(NR-I) ,Southern Region-I (SR-I), Southern Region-II(SR-II), , Western Region-I(WR-I), Western Region-II(WR-II),North Eastern Region(NER),Corporate Centre(CC), Northern Region-III(NR-III) and hosts Northern Region-II(NR-II).
