KATHUA: The Child Development Project Office (CDPO), Barnoti, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department, Kathua, organized an awareness program on gender equality and girl child empowerment under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative at Government Higher Secondary School, Chandwan. The highlight of the event was a powerful Nukkad Natak performed by the renowned theatre group Rangyug. The street play effectively conveyed messages about the importance of educating girls, ending gender discrimination, and ensuring equal opportunities for their growth and success.
Addressing the gathering, Child Development Project Officer, Barnoti Barsha Rani, emphasized the significance of promoting gender equality. “The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao program encourages communities to celebrate the girl child and prioritize her education. Campaigns like today’s Nukkad Natak by Rangyug play a key role in inspiring change and raising awareness on critical social issues,” she said.
The CDPO also underlined the importance of initiatives like Poshan Bhi, Padhai Bhi, which integrates child nutrition with early education. “The holistic development of children, especially girls, remains central to our efforts. By ensuring proper nutrition and access to quality education, we aim to build a healthier and more empowered society,” she added.
