SRINAGAR: In observance of ‘International Girl Child Day,’ the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar, in collaboration with the School Education Department, Srinagar, today organized an awareness program at Government Boys Higher Secondary School (GBHSS) Mujgund.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Jaffer Hussain Beg, Chairman DLSA/Pr. District and Sessions Judge Srinagar, and under the supervision of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Sub-Judge/Secretary, DLSA Srinagar.
The programme aimed to empower and educate young girls about their legal rights and opportunities. The objective was to promote awareness about issues like gender equality, child marriage and domestic violence, providing girls with the knowledge and resources they need to protect themselves and advocate for their rights.
The program was attended by the principal, staff members and students of Government Boys Higher Secondary School Mujgund, Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel, Sehar Nazir, and Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA Srinagar.
Sehar Nazir, served as the resource person for the program. She captivated the students with her insightful speech, highlighting the significance of girls' education and their rights. She also emphasized the importance of equal opportunities and encouraged the girls to pursue their dreams, breaking free from societal limitations, urging the participants to actively advocate for their rights and contribute towards a more equitable society.
The enthusiastic participation of the students showcased their eagerness to learn and contribute to a brighter future. The program concluded with a Q&A session where students actively engaged with Sehar, seeking clarification on various legal and social issues.
