SRINAGAR: As a part of public outreach programme and an initiative by Government of J&K, Police organized 'Thana Diwas' in various police establishments in Srinagar, Budgam, Bandipora, Shopian, Awantipora and Handwara. These meetings were chaired by respective jurisdictional police officers and were attended by various associations and respectable of concerned areas.
On the occasion, participants highlighted various issues of public importance and they were assured that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and that of civil administration will be taken up with the concerned departments for their early redressal.
Participants were urged to co-operate with Police in curbing the drug menace and in identifying anti national and anti-social elements to maintain peace and order in the society. Community members assured their cooperation for enhancing police-public relationship. Thana Diwas is an initiative started by the Government of J&K to bridge the gap between Police and Public and also to hear and redress the grievances of common masses.
