REASI: Social Welfare Department Reasi in collaboration with District Police, on Tuesday organized a mega awareness programme here at Government to educate the students about three newly enacted criminal laws—Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023 and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023.
The programme was attended by a large number of students and faculty members of the institute. The main aim was to educate the students about the key provisions and implications of these laws. Resource Person Prosecuting Officer Shikha Jamwal highlighted the key reforms introduced in the new laws, emphasizing that these prioritize justice over punishment and are designed to ensure speedy justice, strengthen judicial and court management systems, and enhance accessibility to justice for all. She stressed the importance of public awareness in facilitating a smooth transition to the new legal framework.
District Social Welfare Officer Sachin Sharma provided a comprehensive overview of the three new criminal laws and stressed that the programme was part of a broader initiative by the District Administration Reasi to familiarize the public with legal reforms and empower them with the knowledge to navigate the new judicial landscape effectively. DSWO reaffirmed that such mass awareness programmes shall continue across the district so that people shall aware of their rights and responsibilities. Rajesh Bamotra, Superintendent ITI Reasi, officials of Social Welfare Department and faculty members of ITI Reasi were present.
