REASI: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Kumar Abhishek, today chaired a review meeting to assess and finalise arrangements for the Annual Baba Aghar Jitto Mela, scheduled to be held from June 26 to June 30, 2026.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed preparations by various departments covering security arrangements, traffic regulation, drinking water supply, power supply, sanitation, healthcare services, fire safety, parking facilities and other essential amenities for devotees and visitors.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to establish departmental stalls at the mela venue to showcase government-sponsored schemes, welfare programmes and public services and to use these stalls as a platform for creating awareness among the public.
He instructed PWD Katra to undertake necessary repair and maintenance of roads leading to the shrine and ensure smooth movement of pilgrims and vehicles, with all road works to be completed well before the commencement of the mela.
The Health Department was directed to deploy adequate medical staff, establish first-aid facilities and ensure the availability of ambulances throughout the mela period. The Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Katra, was directed to make comprehensive sanitation arrangements in and around the shrine area and mela venue. The Food Safety Department was instructed to conduct regular inspections of markets, eateries and food stalls to ensure the availability of safe and hygienic food items.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to complete their assigned tasks well in advance, maintain high standards of cleanliness, ensure uninterrupted basic services and deploy adequate manpower for effective management of the event. He reiterated the district administration's commitment to providing all necessary facilities and a smooth experience for devotees and visitors.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Krishan Lal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Sharma, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Katra, Assistant Commissioner Development, members of the Baba Jitto Mandir Development Committee, Aghar Jitto and other district officers.
