BARAMULLA: Continuing its sustained efforts to combat the drug menace and eliminate illicit narcotic cultivation at its source, police in Baramulla conducted extensive wild cannabis (Bhung) destruction drives in different areas of the district.
A major eradication drive was carried out at Najar Mohallah Goshbugh by a police party from Police Post Wussan, where wild cannabis growth was identified and destroyed as part of ongoing preventive measures against narcotics-related activities.
Simultaneously, Police Post Mirgund conducted a targeted wild cannabis destruction drive at key locations adjacent to public infrastructure and state land. During the operation, wild cannabis spread over approximately 10 marlas of state land surrounding the National Highway at Singhpora and the periphery of Jheel Bund Matipora was uprooted, collected and destroyed on the spot in accordance with established legal and environmental procedures.
These drives form part of the broader strategy of Jammu & Kashmir Police to prevent the misuse of wild cannabis by anti-social elements and to ensure safer, drug-free surroundings for the community.
Police remains firmly committed to its ongoing “War on Drugs” and appeals to the public to actively support this mission by reporting any instances of illegal cultivation, trafficking or abuse of narcotic substances in their areas.
