JAMMU: Director Agriculture Jammu (DAJ) Anil Gupta today conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Seed Processing Plant and Agriculture Engineering Workshop. He reviewed the ongoing projects, infrastructure, machinery and overall functioning of the twin establishments. The Director was accompanied by Deputy Director (Central) Sanjeev Rai Gupta; Agriculture Research Engineer (ARE) Firdous Ahmad Tak; ASCO (I&P) Sanjeev Mehta and Assistant Agriculture Engineer Bharti Thusoo.
During the visit, the Director took a detailed round of the facilities and interacted with officers, engineers and technical staff to assess the progress of various agricultural development activities and projects being undertaken at the Seed Processing Plant and the Engineering Workshop. He reviewed the operational status of seed processing units, storage facilities, workshop machinery, repair and maintenance infrastructure and the availability of technical resources.
The Director emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency and transparency in all operations. He directed the concerned officers to ensure proper upkeep and regular maintenance of machinery and equipment so that services to the farming community are delivered in a timely and effective manner.
While inspecting the Seed Processing Plant, Anil Gupta stressed the need for expediting the dispatch and distribution of processed seed stocks lying in storage to transmit quality seeds to farmers well before the sowing season. He instructed the concerned officials to prepare a time-bound action plan for the disposal and movement of available seed stocks and avoid unnecessary accumulation in the Warehouses.
The Director also laid special emphasis on cleanliness, sanitation and proper housekeeping within the premises of both establishments. He directed the staff to maintain a clean and organized working environment, ensure safe storage of seed and follow all safety protocols to enhance operational efficiency and workplace safety.
At the Agriculture Engineering Workshop, the Director reviewed the status of repair and maintenance of agricultural machinery and equipment. He underscored the need for timely servicing of farm machinery and strengthening technical support systems to facilitate mechanization initiatives across the Jammu division.
The Director further instructed the officers to identify infrastructure gaps, improve resource utilization and adopt innovative practices to enhance the performance of both units. He reiterated the Department's commitment towards strengthening agricultural infrastructure and ensuring the availability of quality inputs and mechanization support for the benefit of farmers.
