UDHAMPUR: As per the directions of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Minga Sherpa, Government Industrial Training Institute Udhampur, in collaboration with JPDCL Udhampur today conducted a workshop-cum-awareness session on the benefits of solar energy, the PM Surya Ghar Scheme and the installation of rooftop solar systems under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

The programme aimed to create awareness among youth about the harmful effects of drug abuse while promoting skill development and employment opportunities in the renewable energy sector. Participants were sensitised about the social, economic and health consequences of substance abuse and encouraged to contribute towards building a drug-free society.

The workshop featured expert interactions by Aashish from Nehru Solar Solutions, Rishav Gupta from Vijay Builders, Udhampur and Er. Sandeep, Junior Engineer, JPDCL Udhampur.

Aashish briefed participants on on-grid, off-grid and hybrid solar systems, explaining their applications, benefits and key components including solar panels, inverters, batteries and net meters. He also highlighted installation procedures and career opportunities in the renewable energy sector.

The resource persons emphasised the importance of clean energy and discussed the benefits of solar power, including environmental sustainability, energy security, reduced electricity costs and employment generation. Youth were encouraged to explore emerging opportunities in the renewable energy sector.

Addressing the gathering, Er. Ravinder Singh Bhatti, Superintendent, Government ITI Udhampur, underscored the significance of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan in safeguarding the future of youth. He emphasised that skill development, discipline and awareness are key instruments in preventing substance abuse and promoting social well-being. He encouraged youth to acquire industry-relevant skills and actively support the campaign against drug abuse.

The programme concluded with an interactive session followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Er. Fareed Ahmed Sheikh, Drawing Instructor, Government ITI Udhampur, who expressed gratitude to JPDCL Udhampur, the resource persons, faculty members and youth for their participation.
