REASI: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Kumar Abhishek, today chaired a meeting to review and finalise arrangements for the annual Kounsar Nag Yatra, scheduled to commence in the last week of June 2026.

The meeting was attended by SSP Reasi Mukund Tibrewal, Additional District Development Commissioner Krishan Lal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar, Chief Planning Officer Narinder Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Development Mukesh Sharma, officers of various departments and members of the Kounsar Nag Yatra Management Committee.

Detailed discussions were held on security arrangements, track clearance, drinking water supply, sanitation facilities, medical preparedness, transportation and other essential services required for the convenience and safety of pilgrims.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the Health Department to establish medical screening and check-up camps at Sungri and Sari, and to deploy dedicated medical teams along the entire yatra route. He directed the department to ensure the availability of essential medicines, first-aid kits, oxygen cylinders and ambulances, and emphasised that only medically fit devotees be permitted to undertake the yatra after proper health screening.

The Deputy Commissioner directed that the yatra strictly adhere to the designated route. He directed the Forest Department and Rural Development Department to ensure complete clearance of the track and instructed the concerned agencies to repair existing toilets and sheds and create additional facilities at designated night-halt locations.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the Jal Shakti Department to ensure adequate drinking water arrangements at langar sites and halting points, and tasked the Transport Department with making suitable transportation arrangements for pilgrims. The SDM Mahore was directed to closely monitor the progress of all preparations and ensure timely completion of assigned works.

SDRF personnel will be deployed along the entire yatra track. The Deputy Commissioner informed that registration counters would be established at Reasi and Chassana, and directed that no pilgrim be allowed to proceed without proper registration. A dedicated Control Room will be established in the office of SDM Mahore for coordination, monitoring and emergency response during the yatra.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed the BRO and PMGSY authorities to keep men and machinery readily available for immediate road clearance in the event of landslides or any other natural calamity. He directed the Executive Engineer, JPDCL, to ensure uninterrupted power supply and adequate backup arrangements at critical locations along the yatra route.

The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned officers to complete their assigned tasks well before the commencement of the yatra and ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place to provide a safe, smooth and hassle-free pilgrimage experience for devotees.
