ANANTNAG: As part of its ongoing efforts to enforce the law and curb the illegal sale of prohibited tobacco and nicotine products, police in Anantnag conducted separate operations in Anantnag town and Pahalgam, resulting in the recovery of vapes and foreign-origin cigarette packets.
Acting on reliable information regarding the possession and sale of vapes (electronic cigarettes), a police team conducted a search at Jewel Pan Shop, located at Lal Chowk, Anantnag, owned by Mohd Younis son of Habibulla Want resident of Anchidora, Azadpora, Anantnag. During the search, 16 vape devices were recovered from his possession. Legal action as warranted under the relevant provisions has been initiated.
In a separate operation, a police team from Police Station Pahalgam, accompanied by the Tehsildar Pahalgam, conducted an inspection of commercial establishments in the area. During the inspection, 07 packets of Dunhill brand cigarettes of Türkiye origin were recovered from Laway General Store, Pahalgam. Necessary legal action has been initiated in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
Police remains committed to taking strict action against the sale and distribution of prohibited and unauthorized tobacco and nicotine products and urges traders to adhere to the law. The public is also encouraged to report any such illegal activities to the nearest police establishment.
