RAMBAN: In line with the directives of Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Ramban today conducted a special enforcement drive at Seri-Sencha, Kanthi, Bagna and Halla road to ensure compliance with traffic regulations and enhance road safety.
The drive was carried out by the MVD team in collaboration with Ramban Police under the guidance of SSP Ramban Arun Gupta. More than 70 vehicles were inspected for violations of the Motor Vehicles Act. Of these, 12 vehicles were e-challaned for various traffic violations, with penalties amounting to ₹69,800. Two vehicles were seized and four driving licences were recommended for suspension for serious violations. Major offences detected included overloading, driving without valid licences and use of expired insurance documents.
Addressing the occasion, ARTO Ramban Varun Bhasin sensitised drivers and transporters about the importance of adhering to traffic norms and maintaining valid vehicle documents. He issued a warning against overloading and other violations, stating that strict action, including seizure of vehicles and suspension or cancellation of driving licences, registration certificates and route permits, would be taken against habitual offenders.
The ARTO also highlighted the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, urging drivers to stay away from substance abuse and ensure responsible driving. He emphasised that drug-free driving is essential for road safety and appealed to all stakeholders to support the campaign.
