- Gorkha Community calls upon Sat Sharma, discusses issues of community
JAMMU BJP has been sensitive to the issues of the communities residing in Jammu & Kashmir for ages but were denied humanitarian rights for decades. Gorkhas are one of the brave and dedicated communities that have served J&K and have been contributing to the socio-economic environment of the region. It is a pity that the community was denied even the basic rights under the garb of highly inhumane and controversial Articles 370 & 35 (a), said Sat Sharma, President, J&K BJP.
Sat Sharma was addressing a deputation of Gorkha Community under the leadership of Karuna Chettri, President Gorkha Sabha, J&K. Sunil Prajapati, President J&K BJP OBC Morcha had facilitated the meeting of the deputation with the BJP President at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
During the meeting, Sat Sharma patiently listened to the issues and grievances put forth by the deputation and assured that all of their genuine issues will be taken up with the concerned authorities to provide them the relief in the shortest time possible. He said that the BJP believes in ‘Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas, Sab Ka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’. He further assured them that the BJP acknowledges the contribution of the Gorkha community to Jammu & Kashmir and will stand firmly with the community in all matters.
Earlier, the deputation extended gratitude to the BJP leadership for abrogating Articles 370 and 35(A) and the subsequent grant of Domicile rights/benefits to the Gorkha community. They also thanked the BJP leadership for the grant of reservation under OBC Category. The deputation requested for the inclusion of Gorkha Community in the Central OBC List, so that they can also avail the Centre’s OBC certificate to make them eligible for Central Government Jobs and admission in the Central Educational Institution.
